The Law of Attraction

There is a lot of talk right now about the Law of Attraction, in part due to the phenomenal success of the book The Secret and the subsequent DVD (available in our online store) created and released by Rhonda Byrne. However, there is nothing new about the Law of Attraction itself. Wikipedia states that "In modern times, one of the earliest known formulations of the Law in the Western hemisphere is contained in the 1906 book Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World by William Walker Atkinson, editor of New Thought magazine. Dick Sutphen affirms that the Law of Attraction states, in a nutshell, that like attracts like." Since 1906 there have been numerous books and authorities who have addressed this idea of like attracting like, including the well known The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham by Jerry and Esther Hicks.

FlickrCritics maintain that there is really nothing to this "Law" and that people practicing the attitudes embodied by the Law of Attraction are merely increasing their comfort zone in the area of risk taking and looking for opportunistic coincidences to explain why this increased risk taking works.

Do You Practice the Law of Attraction?

You bet I do! Critics or no critics, I feel the difference in my attitude and my energy when I focus on what I want. I notice how visualizing already having it makes me feel, and how holding that intention and energy as I move throughout my day keeps me energized in the direction of my goals and dreams. I have seen amazing results with my clients as they have practiced this discipline of intention and visualization, and I see the joy and positive energy that exudes from them as they move in the direction of their dreams. Who wouldn't want that? For those who insist on maintaining their sceptical attitude, my question would be: How well is that working for you? What kind of energy is that bringing into your life? How excited are you about your life and your future goals and dreams on a scale of 1 to 10 and how happy are you with your answer? If you are thrilled with where you are and how your current attitude is working, great! Keep going! If you feel there might be room for additional growth, great! Consider where that growth might take place and commit right now to taking action toward that growth. Coaching might be a great step for you. Send me an email to explore if that might be the case.

Client Case Study

"T" was stagnating in her career. She came to me with a big dream, one that felt too big to even say aloud. The first time she spoke it, she laughed. And we began to explore reasons why she felt it was impossible. After a few sessions, she began to feel it might not be so impossible, and she began to get excited about moving more boldly in the direction of her dream. Together we created some powerful affirmations and visualizations that helped her keep her dream in her view as she went about her day. Soon she had come up with a creative and bold logo, an amazing new marketing plan, and was taking steps to accomplish the tasks that would get her product in front of the people that mattered in her field.

After some road blocks, considerations, doubts and fears, all of which are normal when making bold moves in the direction of your dreams, "T" was ready to launch her marketing plan. Scared to death, she boldly moved forward, leaping with no net. Keeping her dream and her visualizations in front of her, she stepped out and accomplished every step of her plan. Within a few short weeks, she received more than 30% return on her initial outreach effort, which is just phenomenal results in her field, where 10% is considered mighty. She is now is the developmental stages of a second marketing plan and is boldly following up with the clients who responded to the first wave, with positive feedback coming in at every turn. Her energy is higher than it has ever been, even with continuing road blocks, considerations, doubts and fears. "T" feels in charge, capable and sure of herself for the first time in her life. Every day she moves closer to her dream, and she is excited about where her life is going.
